The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra may not bring the battery upgrade some Samsung fans were hoping for. According to Android Authority, a new leak says Samsung’s next Ultra tablet will use the same typical battery capacity as the current Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra.
The reported figures are specific: 11,374mAh rated capacity and 11,600mAh typical capacity. That means the largest model in the upcoming Galaxy Tab S12 series could keep the same battery size rather than moving to a larger pack.
Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra focuses on chipset gains
That does not necessarily mean battery life will stay identical. Earlier reporting suggests Samsung plans to use the MT6993 platform in the Tab S12 series, which points to MediaTek’s Dimensity 9500 chip. If the new silicon is more efficient, Samsung could still deliver better endurance or stronger performance without physically increasing the battery.

The lineup itself also appears to be changing. Certification listings have pointed to two models: Galaxy Tab S12 Plus and Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra. Android Authority notes that the Plus version may receive a more visible battery upgrade, with a typical capacity around 10,500mAh or 10,600mAh. That would be a clear jump from the previous 10,090mAh figure.
For the Ultra, Samsung may be prioritizing thermal control, display size, thickness, and performance over a bigger cell. Large Android tablets already have limited internal space once the display panel, speakers, cameras, cooling hardware, and chassis rigidity are factored in.
Still, the leak may disappoint buyers expecting a larger battery to match the Ultra branding. If Samsung keeps the same 11,600mAh capacity, the final experience will depend heavily on the Dimensity 9500, display efficiency, and software tuning.
Samsung has not officially announced the Galaxy Tab S12 series yet, so these numbers should be treated as leaked specifications until launch.
