The Denza Z sports car is getting closer to launch, and the latest homologation filings show BYD’s premium brand is aiming far above the usual grand-tourer segment. According to CarNewsChina, the Denza Z has revealed a combined peak output of 1,180 kW, or 1,582 hp, ahead of a July launch in China.
The powertrain uses a three-motor layout. A front TZ220QYD electric motor produces 500 kW, or 670 hp, while two rear TZ226XYG motors combine for another 680 kW, or 912 hp. That gives the Denza Z significantly more peak power than the Mercedes-AMG GT Coupe figure cited by CarNewsChina.

The car will be offered in multiple body styles. The convertible version uses a soft top, semi-hidden door handles, 20-inch wheels, 255/40 front tires, and 265/40 rear tires. It measures 4,780 mm long, 1,990 mm wide, and 1,350 mm tall, with a 2,780 mm wheelbase. Its curb weight is listed at 2,290 kg.
The hardtop roadster uses flush door handles and blacked-out roof pillars. It is 20 mm lower than the convertible, keeps four seats, and has a 300 km/h top speed. A sportier version adds more aggressive bumpers, a large rear wing, 21-inch wheels, 275/35 front tires, and 325/30 rear tires. With the extra downforce, that version is rated for 350 km/h.
Battery capacity has not been disclosed yet, but the Denza Z will use an LFP battery and is expected to support BYD’s Flash Charging system. Previous claims also pointed to a 0-100 km/h time of around 2 seconds, DiSus-M magnetorheological active suspension, and DiPilot 5.0 driver assistance.
For BYD, the Denza Z is more than another fast EV. It is a signal that Chinese premium brands want to compete directly with European performance cars on power, charging, and chassis technology.
