iPhone 18 Pro battery details have allegedly leaked, and the numbers point to a much smaller capacity increase than some buyers may expect. According to MacRumors, Weibo leaker Digital Chat Station claims Apple is testing two different battery configurations for the iPhone 18 Pro, depending on the market.
The China model, which is expected to keep a physical SIM tray, is said to use a roughly 4,056 mAh battery. The U.S. eSIM-only model is said to use a larger 4,288 mAh battery. That difference appears to come from internal space: without a SIM tray, Apple can fit a slightly larger cell inside the same device body.
iPhone 18 Pro battery gains look modest on paper
Compared with the iPhone 17 Pro, the rumored gains are tiny. The China or physical-SIM version would rise from 3,988 mAh to 4,056 mAh, an increase of 68 mAh or about 1.7 percent. The U.S. eSIM-only version would rise from 4,252 mAh to 4,288 mAh, an increase of just 36 mAh or about 0.8 percent.

That does not automatically mean battery life will barely improve. Capacity is only one part of the equation, and Apple is expected to pair the iPhone 18 Pro line with an A20 Pro chip based on TSMC’s 2nm process. A more efficient chip could deliver better real-world endurance even if the physical battery increase is small. Apple’s expected C2 modem could also help reduce power use during cellular tasks.
Still, the leak suggests Apple is not chasing the huge battery capacities seen in some Chinese Android flagships. Instead, the company appears to be leaning on efficiency, internal packaging, and regional eSIM differences.
The figures should be treated as unconfirmed for now. MacRumors notes that it is unclear whether the numbers come from regulatory filings or supply-chain samples. The iPhone 18 Pro models are expected in September with other rumored changes, including a smaller Dynamic Island, a simplified Camera Control, and a variable-aperture main camera.
