Google Pixel Watch 5 may have surfaced in one of the strangest wearable leaks in recent memory. According to TechRadar’s report, the alleged device was found during a scuba diving trip, making this a very unusual way for an unreleased smartwatch to appear online.
The story reportedly started with photos shared by Randy Pitchford on X, who said a friend discovered the watch while diving near Saint Martin in the Caribbean. The images appear to show markings for Google and Pixel Watch 5 on the back of the device, although the circumstances are strange enough that some caution is necessary.
That caution matters. Tech leaks often come from supply chains, case makers, certification documents, or software builds. A prototype found in the ocean is far less typical, and it is possible the story may turn out to be incomplete, staged, or misunderstood.
Google Pixel Watch 5 leak raises questions
If the images are legitimate, the leak could still tell us that Google is already testing its next smartwatch hardware outside controlled lab environments. That would not be surprising, as companies often field-test devices before launch to check connectivity, durability, battery behavior, and real-world wearability.
The timing also makes sense. Google traditionally updates its Pixel hardware lineup later in the year, and a new smartwatch could arrive alongside future Pixel phones. Still, this leak does not provide enough detail to confirm specifications, battery life, sensors, or design changes.
For Technowatt readers, the most interesting point is not just the hardware itself, but how unusual the leak appears. It also shows how much attention Google’s wearable line now gets compared with earlier Pixel Watch generations. If this really is an early device, Google may have another wearable story building before launch season begins.
